Compassionate and collaborative mental health counseling
Megan Blommer, MA, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MN #3174)
Hi there! I'm an experienced Mental Health Professional in Minnesota offering outpatient counseling and psychotherapy services to individual adults (ages 18+ only). Sessions can be scheduled either in-person at my bright and welcoming Saint Paul office, or remotely via secure telehealth from the comfort of your own space. Remote sessions are conducted via easy to use HIPAA-compliant audio+video technology, but it is important to note that clients MUST be physically located within the state of Minnesota for the duration of the telehealth session due to licensing board requirements.
I earned my Master of Arts (MA) degree in Counseling Psychology with a certificate in Family Psychology from the University of St. Thomas (MN). I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire where I majored in Psychology and minored in Music. I have been providing mental health services since 2015 and became licensed to practice independently in the state of Minnesota in 2017. My professional experiences have included providing home-based services (CTSS) to underserved and at-risk children and families, working with adults with developmental disabilities in home, community, employment, and therapeutic settings, providing individual Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and co-facilitating skills groups in a certified intensive outpatient program, as well as individual, couple, and family counseling for diverse populations.

I completed the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) foundational training through Behavior Tech in 2019 and have several years’ experience providing DBT-adherent services to individuals in a state-certified outpatient program. Although I am not currently practicing as part of a DBT team, I value incorporating the theory and skills of mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness into my clinical practice to support individuals with increasing experiencing life more fully and presently, reducing emotion vulnerabilities and managing moods, and building and nurturing healthy personal and professional relationships.

I am particularly passionate about working with providers in mental health, medical, educational, and other service/care fields due to recognizing some of the unique challenges faced in these positions including the difficulty of “leaving work at work” or “caring too much” in a career of helping others. The pressure of being a “team player” for one’s colleagues and organization, the demands of maintaining responsibilities to patients or students and their families, and simply wanting to do the most good out of genuine care and compassion for others inevitably leads to high rates of burnout within helping professions. Professionals and practitioners within these fields will find me to be non-judgmental and non-shaming in exploring work-life balance within systems that often don’t support or allow for individuals to fully disconnect from demanding positions. In addition, I especially enjoy supporting individuals in navigating transitions through different life changes and stages, as well as relational exploration and skill-building for enhancing connections with other people and within oneself.
